Owned it for a couple of weeks now and have used it twice: once to make gumbo, once to make broccoli-cheese soup. This beautiful dutch oven is, quite simply, perfect. For the record, I have also owned a larger, oval-shaped Staub cast iron dutch oven, and it is a wonderful piece that has made many an excellent meal for me and my family. In choosing this Amazon Basic dutch oven, I just needed something a bit smaller, and I preferred the lighter interior enamel as opposed to the black interior enamel on the Staub. For certain applications, such as making a roux, the lighter enamel is definitely a better choice. Now, I did see the negative reviews and pictures from 2018/19, showing chipped, flaking enamel. Niether of these reviews mentioned that Amazon offered to replace the defective items. I hoped that this must have been a fluke, or perhaps from a bad batch, and that this was an issue that has since been solved, as I was unable to find any negative reviews mentioning this problem in 2020, 2021, or 2022. So I did feel a tiny bit of initial apprehension upon ordering this dutch oven, but that fear has been laid to rest with its arrival. So far, so good, and if this changes, you can bet I will update this review with a vengeance! But for now, I am happy that I have obtained a quality cast iron product at a fraction of the price of those overpriced snob-appeal brands (you know the ones). So glad I saved my money!I use this Dutch oven for everything. I love the enameled interior. I use a little spray of oil and it is non-stick without the chemicals. Pot roast, chili, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, beans, you name it, I cook it in this pan. I could not be happier with how evenly it cooks, how low a flame is needed, and the simple cleanup. Let the pan cool, fill with warm soapy water. Everything just washes right off.I just got mine today and I was so excited to use it. I made seasoned chicken. I washed it and dried it per the instructions given. Once finished cooking I washed it again and dried and it has already began chipping. I’m kind of sad about it. It’s a nice heavy pot. Maybe I can get a new one that’s not defective. I really do want to keep using but I just want it to last.Haven't used this yet, so I don't know how the heat distribution is.It does appear to be a good quality pan.Gorgeous color, actually a deeper, prettier color thrn pictured. I like that!!I just don't like that it says 'Amazon Basics' on the lid know. Makes it feel 'cheap' for how pretty it is and for it's price, which was NOT cheap. With Fall here now and soup & stew season close, I am excited to use it.I have several cast iron dutch ovens but they are all just a bit small. I needed one just a bit bigger. I was afraid it would be too heavy to handle but its not. I cook alot of roasts with potatoes and baby carrots as well as many other veggies. Corned beef and cabbage, beans, soups and you name it. I can leave it on 250 or 300 for many hours while I do other things and it still looks beautiful when I take it from the oven. Nothing against my others but I can put this one on the table because not only is it a great pot to cook in but its eye appealing as well. I wish I had room to buy one in every color. I love it and it was well worth the money which by the way was very reasonable considering what youre getting.I have longed to get a Le Creuset Dutch oven… When I saw the price for this purchase, I took a chance. It wasn’t the blue I had my eye on with the LC brand, but this blue is gorgeous!! This is the Dutch oven I was looking for to make those really large one pot meals. The one piece of advice I highly suggest you follow from the directions, wash it right away and dry it right away to avoid rusting. The first time I used it I let it sit with some water, and there is a tiny bit of rust. That is not the products fault… It’s my fault because I did read the directions. But the rust is so minor it does not bother me. But I would suggest following that one piece of direction. This is such a great value! I am going to purchase some of the smaller Dutch ovens to go with this one for a nice little set! It’s beautiful! I leave it on top of my range as it’s so pretty it’s like a decoration! Everyone asks about it.Besides that, it is great to cook with, both stovetop and in the oven. It’s so easy to clean, the porcelain finish inside requires no scrubbing! Definitely recommend, and so many beautiful colors. There's plenty of thermal mass in this Dutch oven to mitigate temperature variations from a cranky stovetop or live coals. Just prepare yourself for lifting an extra 13 pounds with your recipe. The lid weighs over 4 lb, 7 oz. The glaze looks good & there are plenty of stalactites on the lid to redistribute condensation. Our 1st meal from this pot was a smash hit.I won’t waste my money on Amazon Basics cookware again. I bought the 7.5 qt blue Dutch oven. After one use (I only made soup), the enamel on one of the interior sides has all chipped and bubbled. I followed the usage and cleaning directions, and this still happened on the first use. Maybe it’s just a defective item, but regardless, I won’t be purchasing again.I came upon this product while I was looking for the original Creuset model.. the quality is A1 and it’s as easy to clean as the original famous Creuset brand. This is a good replica that won’t empty your wallet!! I’ve been using it for the past month, two or three times, and I am highly satisfied with it. I was a little reluctant at first since Creuset had always been the brand that I used in the past but it is so expensive and I was not sure if the quality would be the same with this amazon basics model.. Buying this amazon basics Dutch oven was the smartest decision as it is basically the same thing, just not from the high end company which changes nothing to me if the quality is the same..Warning: DO NOT use any type of scrub on the interior surface as it removes the enamel and considerably diminishes the lifespan of the pot. Wash with a sponge and dish soap. Will update if anything changes.Lid is a bit different than my Lodge, pot is same. 100% happy with both for my bread baking adventure....Product worked great for a few times and then began to bubble and of course it worsened. I’ve reached out to Amazon to see if it can be returned or replaced but it appears it cannot. Would really appreciate my money back or at least a replacement as I understand items can be defective.Quality product, solid build quality.I do wonder about the sanity of people who mark this down for being ‘too heavy’. It’s a big cast iron pot.... of course it’s heavy!
