It easy to use I use it for my foodLove itSeals my meat's for the trip to the freezerThis machine and its specs look terrific. Too good to be true, for this price. It seals fine. It cuts fine. But it doesn't do the primary job this machine is for - it has no suction power. I stood in front of this machine like a fool for 20 minutes trying all sorts of ways to get it to completely vacuum a bag. Every time I see a part of the bag shift due I got excited... only to see all indications of suction stop, despite the machine continuing to make noises. I tried to help it by squeezing parts where entire corners are filled with air - that helps a tiny amount. But the machine simply is unable to create a vacuum. This is not the first machine I've used. I know how they work. Not a user error. This machine simply has no suction power. I returned the product, which is something I rarely do even with products I am not completely happy with.UPDATED a day after the above:I returned it, and bought a Food Saver model from a local Costco. While this one works very well, it's several times as expensive. While using the new unit, it dawned on me. Perhaps this was a user error after all. This new unit, like my old ones, has a physical latch/lever/whatever which secures the moving part of the machine to the base, before the machine allows you to do anything (e.g. seal or vacuum). The Amazon Basics one didn't. I just assumed that you had to hold the lid down hard and kept it in place as you hit with your other hand a button to vacuum. Boy, was I wrong. Looking at the online user manual afterwards, I realized that I obviously didn't push the lid down hard enough. It is supposed to click and latch. This probably explains the feeble suction I got. I think this is a design defect. But some may call this a means to get the product made with less money. The machine doesn't have a sensor to detect when the lid is properly latched, before it turns on the vacuum functionality. So I just assumed. Wrong assumption. Since I returned the unit, I can't no longer find out whether it does have adequate suction power. I changed the star rating to 3 from 2.I'm very happy so far with this sealer. You can pay a lot more for other brands, some with more features, and some with less. But if you just need a sealer for every day use (i.e. not heavy use), then this works well. I was pleasantly surprised that the suction is as good as it is, and that the wet food feature works well. Plus, you get the bag cutter, which works well, and the roll storage, and all in a fairly compact size. Admittedly, I wasn't confident when I decided to purchase this machine, but figured I'd just return it if it didn't work well, but so far so good. One thing, and I'm not sure this is any different than with any other sealer, it will not suction regular zip lock type bags, you need bags made for a sealer. No big deal though, if you're going to buy zippered bags anyway, might as well just buy the ones made for vacuum sealing.it's basic, just like advertised.. but it works and for the price it does well..A $49 vacuum sealer is not going to perform above average and this one certainly lives up to that expectation. If you only seal on rare occasions, this will probably meet your needs. Perhaps 3 to 4 times a year is the intended workload for this model. I'm not running this thing down mind you, just make sure your expectations are in line with what you are paying. The vacuum is not as strong as others I've used but the heat strip sealer worked very well. Ultimately this unit lasted me 5 rolls of the 11" wide (bulk) sealing bag material. When it broke, the sealing wire would not turn off and the vacuum pump began when you opened the lid. An autopsy revealed that the control wire ribbon from the switches on the lid that traveled via the lid hinge to the circuit board in the body of the machine was pinched and broke. This created a short circuit of sorts to essentially melt the sealing fabric and become a real fire hazard that had to be unplugged, disassembled and ultimately thrown in the trash. For the price, this is a good item. It is definitely a basic model. We only use it occasionally, and it has worked well for almost a year. A protective strip over the heating element keeps the bags from melting. That strip started to deteriorate after 6 months and now allows burn through causing the bags not to seal completely.
