It's not so stable, but I think it can be used at home as well. This stand has special thing for suppurting cable. The quality is not what I expectedNot the most stable or quality feeling mic stand but a great value option.Easy to setup, good looking and good functionality and range. The pivot points could use a stronger hold, as they need to be tightened strong or they will come loose. I'll usually lower the pole to touch the ground so that it won't fall mid recording, just to be safe. I also recommend some counterweight for safety.Quality exceeded my expectationsOK realize this is an entry level stand and inexpensive. SO YES it gets the job done. Amateurs, home recording, maybe even some live performance rehearsal work - all fine. It works.Know that a mic stand is a STRUCTURE. Think of it that way. It holds a mic. It folds/unfolds. It has moving parts. But it is a structure. Examining it wrt the components and connectors - this is very lightweight, spindly but acceptable for the price point (until it breaks). Be careful with this stand and it will serve .Further note that the construction is of light, very thin wall, powder pained tubing, hence is lightweight (good for mass scale shipping & reduced manuf and end user cost), not so great for sturdiness. The stand while adequate, is a bit spindly and also having low mass will be subject to vibration and mechanical noise translation into the amplified signal. Hence appropriate mic isolation is always to be considered. And if someone were to step on the tripod legs for sure they would deflect, bend, buckle and or bust the rivet. Will it tip over? not really, the tripod legs span enough for stability, but the downside is they are a great target for clumsy feet. The higher end, heavier steel stands, can usually have a smaller footprint & are less susceptible to rough treatment. SO just be aware. All adjustments are threaded steel imbedded into plastic knobs. The threaded sections are REALLY tiny, so again will strip and wear easily. You must be careful tightening them. They WILL break and/or strip easily, then you will need duct tape :) or just recycle the stand to the scrapyard. The finish is good, no issues. This stand will work, it is inexpensive, will not last forever and falls into the perfect niche that made China what it is - super cheap for bottom cost American customers. Always attractive price and outside appearance, almost ALWAYS underdesigned - the hallmark of Chinese copycat exports. It will be ok, you are satisfied until it breaks and buy another. At that point of buying twice, you could have had a heavier duty stand. Your call....EM 04Jan22Music Stand feet do not fold up and so must be disassembled/reassembled When we set up music twice a month. If they folded up it would be much more convenient. We use a large rolling basket to transport all audio items. The stands themselves are fineYour not gonna get the best stand for this price. But seriously, if your careful with your things you will never have a issue with this. It isn’t perfect. It tilts a little. But it’s strong. It hold up my AT2020 a pop filter and a Kaotica Eyeball. Oh and a 25 foot wound up xlr cable. And the mechanics are well built. It just isn’t the sturdiest. If you have wreck-less friends, and a sensitive condenser microphone I’d get a boom arm and avoid things like a alctron pf8 or kaotica eyeball cause it probably wouldnt hold it. But if you have a a place away from cats and dogs, or a dynamic microphone or a strong condenser, this will be perfect. I bought mine cause I don’t have a good place for a boom arm. The plus is being able to hold up a kaotica eyeball. Sorry for the droning long review. I just wanted to emphasize why you should and shouldn’t purchase this in detail. I hope this helps.Purchase this last year just opened up the box and realized that it does not come with a microphone holder! The purpose of a microphone stand be to hold a microphone? And no, the holder isn’t in the box and had to look at the instructions to see if it was an idiot. Nope, just an idiot for not reading the listing in it’s entiretyAfter scouring amazon looking at many cheap basic tripods, the actual amazon basics one stood out to me as the best option, and it has not disappointed. It has a great extendable length so you can easily set it up as a normal on stage mic stand, or as I do, use it to mount a shotgun mic (Rode VideoMic Pro) and capture audio from people either sitting or standing. The only minor thing is that even when collapsed and folded down as much as possible, this is still quite long, and doesn't fit in to even fairly large suitcases. I managed to find a long duffle bag suitcase with wheels it just squeezed in to. I guess if they made it any shorted, you would have as much extendable length to play around with so it is a trade off. However, if like me, you want to be able to travel abroad with this piece of kit, it might be worth looking for one that collapses down a bit moreIt's OK as a hobbyist mic stand say for occasional use in say a church, home Karaoke or similar "gentle" environment. It doesn't have a cast boss that the feet fix to, and the top of the stand (the hinge of the boom) is all plastic. As such it all works perfectly well, but it's not going to withstand clumsy handling or hard use very well. For use by a gigging band or a busy studio, I'd suggest you need to spend a bit more and get an all-metal stand.I can't believe the negative reviews on a $25.00 mic stand. "I don't want to put my $400 microphone on it!" That's right. Get the right product for your application. BTW... clip holders come with the mic, not the stand, although... cheap mic or cheap stand.. they may not come with clips at all... . that's how they sell cheap. This is great FOR THE PRICE. I have a much sturdier stand for my expensive studio equipment. I needed something light to hold be $$30 Apex mic to do some busking in the park and this is perfect. If you don't want a cheap stand, then don't buy a cheap stand LOL.For the money, this is a great product. If you are a gigging musician collapsing and adjusting them daily then you probably want something more robust than plastic threads but for studio and amateur use, they look fine, they aren’t heavy (that’s good or bad..) and they work.I keep the Amazon Basics sticker on, mainly to push a point with colleagues who think dearer is always bestThis thing is awful. Important parts are made of cheap, weak plastic. The stand is awful and will not support the arm with mic in many positions without tipping over. I bought it because of the Amazon name attached to it but it is by far the worst mic stand I've ever bought. You may say well what do you expect for the price? I agree it is a cheap price but it is largely not functional for its intended purpose. The cheap ones I have bought from our 'favourite' internet auction site were much sturdier for a similar price. If you have a light weight mic it may work ok for you but due to build components will not stand the test of time. I would urge you to look for a different one and acknowledge that I should have spent a bit more money. Is it for your kid to play with at home? Go for it. Is it for band practice etc...Hell no.
